family history

So, basically this is me putting of my assignment a little bit longer (it's writing), but just humor me. As I am attending BYU, I am required to take religion courses. I think it is wonderful (this is new, I did not think so last year) and may even take more than is required! Note: I said "may" I am not making any promises. Anyways, this semester I am taking Family History and Genealogy. It is something I have always wanted to do, but I never knew where to start. This class has been a boost for me and I have had so much fun. We picked a certain ancestor to research the entire semester and I picked my great-grandfather, Vicente Mendoza. He is my maternal grandfather's father. In other words he is my mom's dad's dad. Still confused? Don't sweat it. Anyways, This has been such a great experience and I can truly say that I have enjoyed it and will continue. I feel kind of like a detective looking for clues about my ancestors and trying to find records . . . I know I don't make this sound super interesting, but I am trying! Well, I just want to leave you with a quote that will hopefully get you motivated:)
“The Bible says, ‘I will send you Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord; and he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.’ [Malachi 4:5–6.]
“Now, the word turn here should be translated bind, or seal. But what is the object of this important mission? or how is it to be fulfilled? The keys are to be delivered, the spirit of Elijah is to come, the Gospel to be established, the Saints of God gathered, Zion built up, and the Saints to come up as saviors on Mount Zion [see Obadiah 1:21].
“But how are they to become saviors on Mount Zion? By building their temples, erecting their baptismal fonts, and going forth and receiving all the ordinances, baptisms, confirmations, washings, anointings, ordinations and sealing powers upon their heads, in behalf of all their progenitors who are dead, and redeem them that they may come forth in the first resurrection and be exalted to thrones of glory with them; and herein is the chain that binds the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, which fulfills the mission of Elijah. …
Okay, so it's a little long, but we talked about this a lot in class. (btw this is from: “Chapter 41: Becoming Saviors on Mount Zion,” Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, (2007),468–478)

These are some photographs I had my mom send me of Vicente Mendoza and his wife Manuela Cardoza Mendoza. Just thought I'd share a little of my research.
p.s. the last one of Vicente reminds of my grandpa:)

temple

This morning we got to go to the temple with Todd and Kendra. The four of us are trying to go to the temple together once a month. It is so fun to go with another couple! I love this tradition (although it has only happened twice) and I hope we continue it as long as we live close:)
At home, before we left.

When we arrived at the temple.

family

This past weekend Zack's parents came down and visited. We had tons of fun being with so much family! We also got to eat "real food" (as Zack calls it) for a few nights. Momza and Pops took us to Cafe Rio, Tucanos, and a BBQ place (which name slips my mind at the moment). Friday Kendra, Momza, and I went to the spa Kendra works at and all had pedicures together!! At Tucanos, Momza was worried I wouldn't eat enough, but I stayed on top of things and Marci and I ate the most out of everyone. Saturday Zack got to go golfing with his dad and Todd. It was such a fun weekend and it was so nice to spend time with family. Marci took a bunch of pictures that you have probably seen on Facebook. I think Zack and I got at least two goods ones together, which was quite an accomplishment:) This was the most exciting weekend we have had in a while!

hello

So I'm not sure what to put up here yet, but this is going to be about Zack and me and all of our adventures:) Just for times like when our mail is sent back to the sender even though they had the correct address. Or when we carve pumpkins and watch Hocus Pocus and don't answer the door for trick-or-treaters, because we ate all of the candy. Or like when I get my wisdom teeth out and have one incredibly swollen cheek and one slightly swollen one. Or when the vacuum we checked out, from the central building, burns our carpet. Or for when Zack finds his camera he thought he lost, so now we can take pictures:) Errr yep it's mostly for stuff like that and who knows what else. Also, I thought it would be fun to tell the story of how we met...not that most of you don't already know that;) So we will see how much free time I have, because I tend to get busy with school, but isn't that what weekends are for?

So these are our pumpkins, can anyone guess whose is whose? I'll give you a hint....I just took this and Zack's is going rotten.

So this is me with puffy cheeks, taken yesterday November 5, the day after I got my wisdom teeth taken out. Not really sure why I am putting this on the internet for everyone to see, maybe it has something to do with the drugs I am taking....they make me feel funny.
Here we have Amoxicillin, Hydroco/APAP, and Dexamethason. Basically I have taken a lot of pills in the past few days. Gold star to anyone who knows what they are all for:)

Well time for me to pick Zack up at work, probably a good thing, because who knows what other pictures I am liable to put up haha. Not exactly sure I should be driving....just a joke, they said I only needed to wait 24 hours!
